History of Bean Bag

The original name of bean bag actually is SACCO. In 1968, the first bean bag chairs where created by Italien designers Piero Gatti, Chesare Paolini and Franco Teodoro for Zonotta furniture firm in Italia and is manufacture till nowadays . The bean Bag chair resurrected it popularity in the 1990’s. When it was mass-produced, it was made of vinyl and filled with polystyrene plastic pellets … materials which had only recently been developed. The Sacco revolutionized the concept of a chair with its rigid, hard surface design. The Sacco became an instant worldwide phenomenon and a leading icon of the 1970’s.

The bean bag was filled with Styrofoam or polystyrene beads. These beads were used to fill and plump the bag for comfort. Polyurethane foam has been successfully used by high end furniture manufacturers for its ability to create soft edges, maintaining its shape, durability and increased level of comfort. Consumers liked the fact that the chair molded to each individual’s body shape. Professional decorators liked the lightweight, mobile nature of the furniture. As its popularity grew, many furniture manufacturers added bean bag chairs to their lines, each incorporating their own unique elements to the design.

Bean bag chairs are known to bean bag enthusiasts by many names, such as "Physics Bag" or "Oversized Sac". The oversized sack had increased the size, durability, quality and availability of vibrant colors and fabrics. The higher quality shredded polyurethane added comfort that had previously diminished in the older style bean bags. Bean bags chairs are fast gaining popularity with the people from all age groups ranging from kids to adults.

At the present time bean bags come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors and textures as well to choose from. Bean bags became part of our life far exceeding the comfort traditional bean bag chairs craze is spreading the nation as more and more people experience the difference. Now they can be spotted all over the places like offices, airports, hotels, lounges, houses and restaurants. Bean bags have been increasingly catching up to be for various activities, finding use in our lives, for sitting or lying down or just for fun!
